Who we are
ECCO was created as a non-profit in 2006 and has been providing emergency outreach services to the citizens of Elbert County since then. ECCO works with families to help them become self-sufficient and one of their core purposes is offering emergency client services to individuals. They can also refer clients to other agencies that can provide additional or different types of assistance. Another key service is providing coaching and life skills development to clients in budgeting, job search, financial planning and self development.
ECCO also gives back through larger community wide efforts, like helping to provide winter outerwear and school supplies or collaborating with local agencies and community groups to collect gifts and food items for children and families for the holidays. Clients are referred by social services, victims’ advocates, women’s crisis and family outreach centers, schools, churches, and others in the community. Additionally, they provide an option for community service for home school families, 4-H, and the local judicial systems.
Meet the Director
(Erica Johnson accepting the Outstanding Nonprofit at the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office Victims of Crime Award in Colorado in 2024)
About the Director: Driven by a deep commitment to serving others, our director leads with both passion and experience. Having personally benefited from the organization's services during a time of domestic violence, she understands firsthand the importance of its mission. When the opportunity arose to give back, she prioritized joining the team and has been instrumental in expanding our reach and impact. A testament to this dedication is the organization's recognition as the Outstanding Nonprofit at the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office Victims of Crime Awards in both 2019 and 2024, largely due to its extensive outreach in Elbert County.
Beyond her work with the non-profit, she enjoys spending time outdoors fly fishing, cherishes the companionship of her dogs, and has been happily married to Jay Vier, President of the Lion's Club, for five years.
